Where MP is headed

By early 2028, MP Materials (NYSE:MP) should look like a fundamentally different company than the one trading today. The Mountain Pass mine already produces roughly 15% of global rare earth concentrate, but that's the old story. The new story is the Fort Worth, Texas magnet factory and the government's $400M-$550M cost-sharing partnership that is bankrolling MP's push into finished NdFeB magnets (the permanent magnets inside every EV motor, wind turbine, and military guidance system). If Fort Worth reaches commercial-scale output by late 2027, MP becomes the first company in the Western Hemisphere to run an integrated chain from ore in the California desert to finished magnets shipped to automakers. That vertical integration changes the unit economics entirely: selling magnets instead of raw concentrate could push gross margins from the current 37% toward 55-60%, because the value-add in rare earth processing is enormously back-loaded toward the finished product.
